I’m not sure if you had to play outrageously stupid math games on Apple IIe computers when you were in elementary school, but there was this one in particular which put everything in perspective for me. The stupid ass game went like this: 1) Answer a load of tedious math problems and 2) get the big payoff of some lame god damned riddle. After going through 15 problems and

    “What is the laziest mountain in the world?

    Mount Ever - rest !!”

    stared back at me, I realized that some kooky fucking math person thought it funny enough to distract me from the desire to put the god damned disk on top of the monitor.

    I learned two valuable lessons that day. One, the rewards promised by the capitalist system are never worth the effort one goes through to earn them and two, the people who publish scientific/mathematic shit generally don’t have fully developed senses of humor when it comes to their work.

    Or perhaps they do?
